Where did this one come from, huh? Jesse, being the fervent comic shop patron that he is, stumbled upon this gem at his local store this week and pointed me to it…and boy, oh boy am I glad he did.
Written by Nathan Edmonson (Olympus) and illustrated by wildly original (and talented) Bret Weldele, of Surrogates fame, this horror story follows an abusive ex-husband and his daughter as they try to navigate their way through an creative epidemic–apparently, when you look at any source of electric light, you begin to literally burn alive from the inside.
The writing is crisp and believable, and the art…well, personally, I’m a big fan of Weldele’s work on Surrogates, but if that’s not your thing, you probably won’t like The Light. All-in-all, a fantastic start to what promises to be a fantastic little series. Highly reccomend you pick this one up.
Oh, and there’s also a free five page preview over at Image, which you can find right here.

Yesterday, the Saint James Gmail address was hacked, and a bunch of SPAM was sent out supposedly from Jesse, detailing how he and his family have been mugged on a trip in England. This is nothing but SPAM, I assure you, and I urge you to just delete this message and forget it, if you do indeed stumble upon it.
Again, Jesse is fine and happily non-mugged in south Florida.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and bear with us while we try to get this under control.

Sketch Maven, the world’s greatest comic art marketplace, did an artist profile on our very own James Emmett, artist of the new Ex Occultus one-shot “Seal of Solomon.”

Head on over to Pop Syndicate to check out their review of the newest Ex Occultus one-shot. What they had to say:
The second book in the Ex Occultus series and it’s off to a great start. The issues are all one and done stories, making the book easily accessible to new readers. If you’re in the mood for something a little different than mainstream capes and cowls give this series a try.
