Hollander HOLLANDER
(b. 1852, Jackson, Michigan, USA; given name unknown; occult hunter, adventurer). Raised by his father, a lumberman and retired trick shooter/performer, he first discovered what could be considered “occult happenings” passing through Sauk Indian territory in Eastern Michigan (1864). He left home when he was 17 (1869), traveling via steam ship to Casablanca, Morocco. Hiring himself out as an adventurer, he found himself on the run from local gangsters, ultimately running into and rescued by Francis Wakefield (1871), who was impressed with his character. He was soon after taken under Wakefield’s tutelage.
