Synopsis

It’s been nearly two-thousand years since the Rapture actually happened in the early 21st century, an event previously thought to be nothing but a far-off myth. Of course everyone thought they had a spot saved for them in the Promised Land when the time came, but unfortunately, nearly everyone was wrong. While a small percentage floated to the Neverending Party Upstairs, the rest were left to fend for themselves as portals from Hell opened up on Earth, spewing Satan’s demonic forces forth and ushering the world into chaos and darkness for hundreds and hundreds of years.

But on the cusp of the new millennium, in the year 1999 A.R. (After Rapture), it’s clear things haven’t gone to plan. Satan soon became bored with seizing the world and since retired to Detroit. The leaderless demons have settled into a human-like society, living in the burnt-out cities of the First Humans and working odd jobs to pass the time in a post-apocalyptic Wild West. The surviving humans settled deep into the mountains and underground communities immediately after the Rapture – most live life without knowing what the surface, now known as the Strange, is really like…that is, except for John Scrubber. After being branded and banished from his underground settlement, he was left to fend for himself in the Strange. With the help of his best and only friend, a pig demon named Gog, he attempts to find salvation any way he can in a world that no longer recognizes his kind.
